Once upon a time...

My father was a ten year old boy; born into a large family at the edge of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. His father died young, leaving his mother to bear the brunt of bringing up 9 children.

 

And every day...

To survive my father would buy bread from the local bakery and deliver them to households in the village to make enough money for a handful of rice to feed the family each day.

 

But then one day....

My grandmother decided to fill the baguettes with
her own homemade pates, hams and pickles. Out of nothing, they had a little business selling ba’gets to the local village people. 

 

And because of that...

We now have the recipes that have been handed down through the generations, which helped my mother and father start a business from nothing; having arrived in Australia as refugees with literally just the clothes on their backs.

 

And because of THAT...

We now have the financial means as a family to build the Ba’get business to broaden our reach and make lunchtime more exciting & exotic for more people. Authenticity is not just a catch phrase for us, it’s our history, our family, our survival and our contribution to the world.

 

Until finally...

Fast forward to today: You are here in our humble restaurant; and we are so proud to be serving you the same heartfelt food Grandma created all those years ago.
